Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

A robot vacuum is the best device to keep the cleanliness of your home. It can remove pet hair, dust, and other particles on the surface.

Some robots connect to smart assistants such as Alexa and Google Assistant for a hands-free experience. Find models that can be recharged and continue cleaning the area they left.

1. iRobot S8

This smart robot vacuum and mop combo is an excellent choice for many homes. It has a great navigation system that incorporates GPS and laser sensors. It also has many features and controls accessible via the app. It also comes with a useful feature that allows you to create Cleaning zones for specific areas that require extra attention, and also to keep Out zones where you don't want it to go. It also receives software updates, just like all Roomba products, that make it better over time.

It's expensive but it's also among the most advanced robot vacuums that ZDNet has evaluated. It comes with a powerful battery that can vacuum an entire home in less than two hours. Additionally, it can switch between mopping and vacuuming by pressing a button. And unlike other self-emptying robotics that require you to empty the trash bin after each run, it automatically emptys itself into an even larger waste container on top of its charging dock.

It also comes with a variety of other features, such as intelligent obstacle avoidance, which utilizes cameras in conjunction with processor-powered smarts in order to detect obstacles. It's not often tripped or stuck during a cleaning process. In my tests it was the best in avoiding objects such as power cables. It is not as accurate at detecting pet waste or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

While the Anker-owned Eufy has made a name for itself in low-cost robot vacuums it hasn't previously offered an all-in-one model that could also mop. This is changing with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive set of modern features and is able to compete against more expensive models.

The laser navigation system is the main selling point of this machine. The previous Eufy devices have created an approximate map of your home using infrared sensors and bumping into objects however the X8's laser mapping technology is more precise. It takes less time to create an accurate map of your home. It also has the ability to store multiple maps. This is ideal for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is still a decent vacuum for floors that are not clean, slinging debris under its side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin with ease. The Tyres of the X8, despite their circular shape, are very adept at grabbing edges and corners. It's not a great kitty litter scooper, however, with our tests showing it is able to remove around 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.

The mopping mode that is the basic one uses the same water reservoir as the vacuuming mode. This is great for spills that are not serious, but you cannot regulate the amount of water that it uses. It does, however, do an excellent job of picking up pet hair, and has a higher percentage of hair removal than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

The company is known for its quiet home appliances Miele's RX2 robot vacuum has excellent cleaning power, beautiful design and great navigation. There are a few niggles in its operation that prevent it from being ranked as the best smart robot vacuum.

Similar to the latest models of iRobot like the RX2 has dual-sensor mapping technology that utilizes a LIDAR sensor to map out an area and three 3D scanning cameras to identify and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real-time. Once mapped the app allows you to create virtual no-go zones as well as preferred areas that the robot will automatically clean. You can also alter the cleaning options, begin a manual clean, or view a live feed of the onboard cameras from the main screen.

The RX2's sensors are effective by registering furniture and obstructions in real-time. Its sweeping and suction power are top of the line, picking up surface litter from carpets with medium piles and dust in bare floors. But it's not the most flexible robot available. It's not the best climber and has issues with transition strips made of steel.

Many people purchase robot vacuums because of the ease of setting up a schedule on an app, only to forget about them for weeks. However, it's essential that robot vacuum sale a machine can get the job done, which is the reason why our ZDNet staff tested and reviewed several of the most popular ones to help you find the best one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This budget robovac is a robot that looks like any other, but has several more features and a better performance. Its smart mapping system generates 3D and 2D maps of your home and uses those to navigate around obstacles and avoid them. It's also able to detect common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real time. This combination of sensors, together with a bump sensor, and an infrared drop sensor that keeps it away from stairs is what makes it one of the fastest vacuums we've tried.

It was able to walk over thick shag carpets and didn't get stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Roomba 690-). Its navigation abilities were impressive as well and its overall score on carpet and bare floors topped the competition and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface pet hair and litter from our lab test samples.

Its controls are a bit more basic than the competitors. There's an uniform cleaning button on the top. You can access it via the app, or by voice command with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule weekly or daily cleanings, set up no-go zones and check its history of cleaning. Ion is clad in a stylish dark gray plastic that feels and looks beautiful in your home. Its rear dustbin is easily accessible to empty, and the removal of the filters is also easy.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking for a basic, no-frills robot vacuum for a reasonable cost, the Eufy 11S might be your best bet. It's not equipped with some advanced features like Alexa integration and digital mapping found in higher-end models. However, if you do not need these features, you could save money.

The robot is easy to set up and use. It doesn't require a smartphone app or Wi-Fi pairing, but it does come with a remote control that allows you to select between different modes and adjust the suction level. You can also manually set the robotvac to a cleaning schedule.

During our tests, we discovered that the 11S was extremely efficient in getting dirt and pet fur from hard floors and low-pile carpets. Its slim profile allowed it to pass under furniture that is low-hanging and other objects that heavier robots were unable to get at. It was also able to pass over doorway thresholds and transition from one type of floor to another.

The 11S, as with other robots will also suckup some objects, such as cords and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests you keep these objects off the ground and by using a cord organizer whenever possible. It also suggests that you regularly clean the dustbin, replace the filters, and clean or change the brushes as required.

iRobot Roomba 990

The Roomba 980 is the flagship robot vacuum. It's pricey however it's an excellent performer and arguably the most advanced robot vacuum available. Its self navigation and environmental mapping are truly a marvel to behold. It is more sophisticated in its automation than the majority of its rivals, for instance the capability to set up virtual boundary markers through its mobile app. Although its app is a little sluggish, and the 980 does spin a bit when moving over cables, it's still a highly efficient robot vacuum.

We love the 980 because it uses its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and visual simultaneity localisation and mapping (or vSLAM), to memorise the floor plan of your home. It uses this information to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors, and a cleaner vacuum than most competing high-end robot vacuums.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that grab dirt from floors and carpets and an ejector brush that spins to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum’s bin. The floor tracking sensor helps it navigate around furniture, along edges and up stairs. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It will also return to the base station for simple recharging in between sessions. Although the 980's battery lifespan and bin size aren't as efficient as other robot vacuums, it's a sturdy and reliable machine that will keep your floors clean for hours on end.
